講演内容 / About the Talk
本特別セミナーでは、シリアスゲーム分野の初期からコミュニティ形成に関わってきた Ben Sawyer 氏を迎え、藤本徹（東京大学教授）との対談形式で、シリアスゲームのこれまでと現在、そして今後の展望について議論します。2000年代初頭におけるシリアスゲーム運動の立ち上がりや当時のコミュニティの様子を振り返るとともに、この20年間でゲームと学習の研究・実践がどのように発展してきたのかを共有します。さらに、近年のゲームベースドラーニングやプレイフルラーニングの動向にも触れながら、今後の可能性について考えます。

In this special seminar session, Ben Sawyer—who has been involved in the serious games movement since its early days—will join Prof. Toru Fujimoto (The University of Tokyo) for an informal conversation on the past, present, and future of serious games. The session will begin with reflections on the origins of the serious games movement in the early 2000s and the nature of the community at that time. It will then explore how the field has evolved over the past two decades, followed by perspectives on current developments such as game-based learning and playful learning. The session will be conducted in a relaxed conversational format, followed by discussion with participants.

ベン・ソーヤー氏
シリアスゲームの第一人者。Digitalmill共同創業者。2002年にSerious Games Initiativeを共同設立し、ゲームの社会的応用の普及に大きく貢献。さらにGames for Healthの創設にも関わり、教育・医療分野におけるゲーム活用を世界的に推進している。

Ben Sawyer
A leading figure in the fields of serious games, and co-founder of Digitalmill. In 2002, he co-founded the Serious Games Initiative, contributing significantly to the promotion of games for social impact. He also played a key role in founding Games for Health, advancing the use of games in education and healthcare worldwide.
